Empty Grease Trap
Emptying a grease trap involves removing the accumulated grease, oil, and fat that have settled in the trap over time. Here are the steps for emptying a grease trap:
Turn off any equipment that may be connected to the grease trap, such as sinks or dishwashers.
Remove the lid or cover of the grease trap.
Use a scoop or shovel to remove as much of the solidified grease as possible. You may also use a specialized pump to remove the grease.
Place the removed grease in a sealable container or bag for disposal. Do not pour the grease down the drain or into the sewer system, as this can cause blockages and environmental damage.
Once the solidified grease has been removed, use a scraper or spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the trap to remove any remaining residue.
Rinse the trap with hot water to remove any remaining debris or grease.
Replace the lid or cover of the grease trap and turn on any equipment that was turned off.
It is important to empty grease traps regularly to prevent blockages and backups in the plumbing system. The frequency of emptying a grease trap depends on the amount of grease produced in the establishment, but it is generally recommended to be done at least once a month.
